Piano Lessons
I have completed teacher training in the Suzuki Harp Method from master teachers Delaine Leonard and Mary K. Waddington (who developed the method after studying with Dr. Suzuki in Japan). I love teaching the Suzuki method because of it's focus on strong technique and musicality from the start and it's core belief that all people are capable of learning music. I have witnessed many of the method's graduating students reach a level of high quality playing. Learn more about this method here: https://suzukiassociation.org/about/suzuki-method/
Beginning harp students (adults and children) will usually start on what is called a lever-harp. This is a smaller, more affordable harp than the full sized concert-grand harps you would see in an orchestra. I recommend that my students begin renting a lever-harp before deciding to purchase one.
Although my primary instrument is the harp, piano is still a large part of my life. I began studying the piano at age 6 and continued to study piano while completing my harp degree. I believe a foundation in piano facilitates the learning of all other musical skills and instruments. It was my foundation in piano that allowed me to progress quickly and excel in the harp after starting at age 13.
